The Final Fighting Championship has experienced a meteoric rise in renown and ratings during the last 2 years. Like it or don't like it, it seems like the UFC is here for good. Consequently many men in the eighteen 34 demographic are becoming more interested by the kung fu skills.
The solution to this query is extremely simple. No, your martial art will not get you to the UFC. Make a perhaps, rather than a definite no.
OK, I can already tell that a small number of you might be surprised at that one line put down of you, your selected martial art and your UFC hopes. After all I do not know anything about you but let me expand on my response so you know where I am coming from. First off, it's important to appreciate that no-one style has all the parts of a total fighting system for success in the Octagon, but many styles have lots of them. The UFC, Pride, WEC and Select XC are all labeled under the class "Mixed Martial Arts." This should tell you a lot re the issue of whether your martial art will get you to the UFC.
Mixed kung fu skills is precisely what it asserts it's a mixture of many different kung fu skills pulled together to form the full skill base of methodologies required for survival in the ring, cage or octagon ( or the street for what it's worth. To be a successful UFC fighter you want to have a great stand-up game and a great ground game. As well as this you must learn take-downs and take-down defenses. This does not even include the physical conditioning or the psychological side of getting ready for a fight. So these are some recommendations as to which styles you must study to give yourself the best chance of changing into a good fighter. There are numerous other karate skills not on this list that are also deserving of detailed study ; and a few of them on the list include all the above abilities to a bigger or smaller degree.
So will your martial art get you to the UFC? Not on it's own, but if you mix the power of your selected art with the missing elements you need from some of the other styles above, then you'll be well on the way.
